Frank J. Reid is Professor Emeritus of Economics at the University of Toronto. He has also been the Director of the Centre for Industrial Relations and Human Resources from 1997 to 2009. He received his PhD in Economics at Queen’s in 1975, his Masters from LSE in 1971 and here in Vancouver his BA from UBC in 1970.
In his long and illustrious academic career Frank has authored many publications with his research focus on labour economics. In his honour the Frank Reid Prize has been established and it is presented each year to the top graduating student or students from the 2-year Master of Industrial Relations and Human Resources degree program at convocation.
Frank was included in Canada’s Who’s Who in 1993. Together with his colleagues, professors Noah M. Meltz and Gerald S. Swartz, he co-authored the book: “Sharing the Work: An analysis of the issues in worksharing and jobsharing” in 1981.
